Our WordPlay Way
What is our Orton-Gillingham method?
Orton–Gillingham was the first teaching method specifically designed to help struggling readers. The method uses a structured, systematic approach to teaching reading, and it emphasizes phonemic awareness (the ability to hear and manipulate the individual sounds in words) and phonics (the relationship between letters and sounds).
Once children know these consistent rules and patterns, they’re better able to decode words on their own.
We Take a Multi-Sensory Approach
Our programs engage multiple senses (such as sight, hearing, and touch) to help students learn and retain information. The method is based on the understanding that sensory input can help students learn to process language more effectively.
